Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded a 45-year-old citizen of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jeancy Mubenga Mukeba, in the custody of the Ikoyi Correctional Centre over drug trafficking allegations.
The prosecutor, Mrs Jillian Iroaduchi, told Justice Kakaki that the foreigner was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on November 22, 2025, with a large quantity of illegal drugs.
Mrs Iroaduchi also told the judge that the defendant was found with 10.80 kilograms of Pentazocine Injection at the NAHCO Export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.
The prosecutor further accused the defendant of collaborating with one Ekene and Mama Samuel BIBI, who live in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to commit these crimes.
She maintained that the offence breached several sections of the NDLEA Act, including sections 11(d), 20(a), (c), 11(b), and 14(b).
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.
Based on the development, the prosecution requested a date to review the case facts.
The defence lawyer, Anthony Nnamoko, asked the court to remand the defendant into NDLEA custody until the next court sitting.
Justice Kakaki then adjourned the case to February 4 for the review of evidence and sentencing, confirming Mukeba will remain in custody until that date.
The charges specify that Mukeba, of No. 13, Chapel Suite, Lagos Island, unlawfully possessed, concealed, and intended to export 10.80 kilograms of Pentazocine Injection, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin, and LSD, inside brown cartons at the Lagos airport.
He, along with Ekene and Mama Samuel BIBI (both at large), allegedly conspired to export the drug without lawful authority.
The court detailed the offences under various sections of the NDLEA Act, including possession, exportation, and conspiracy, emphasising the unlawful nature of their actions and the penalties involved.
