The court, presided over by Magistrate M. A. Adamu, remanded the defendant in prison custody and adjourned the case to 17 September 2025 for the commencement of the hearing.

Nakura was arraigned before the court for defamation of character, use of insulting and abusive language, disturbance of public peace, and inciting disturbance, contrary to sections 378, 379, 385, and 80 of the Penal Code.

Arraigning the defendant, Counsel for the prosecution, Ezekiel Jidauna Esq, informed the court that the police command had received a letter of complaint dated 8th September, 2025, from Barr. N. I. El-Yakub Esq, on behalf of the complainants.

According to the prosecution, the personalities include the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Wife of the former President, Aisha Buhari, Dr. Modi Halilu, and Barr. Comrade Mustapha Salihu, National Vice Chairman, APC Northeast Zone.

He told the court that the 53-year-old defendant gave an interview to an online TV station in Hausa Language, where he made inciting, unguarded utterances, thereby defaming the character of some prominent personalities in the state.

He added that the utterances could destroy their political future, cause chaos, breach public peace, and dent their political party, alleging that the defendant had also called them thieves.

The prosecution told the court that the defendant accused the aforementioned personalities of hijacking fertiliser and farm inputs sent to Adamawa State for distribution to farmers and distributing expired food items to the citizens.

He further informed the court that the defendant had told an online TV station that the former APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Aishatu Binani, won the governorship election. Still, the personalities used their positions, hijacked the process, and denied her victory.

When the content of the First Information Report was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to all the offences.

Consequently, Counsel to the prosecution, Ezekiel Jidauna Esq, applied for the matter to be adjourned so that he could assemble witnesses for the commencement of the hearing.

For his part, Counsel to the defendant, E. O. Odo Esq, applied for bail, saying that the offences are bailable under the 1999 Constitution as amended.

Odo told the court that his bail application was brought pursuant to section 36 (5) of the Constitution and section 163 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2018.

In a ruling on the bail application, Magistrate M. A. Adamu admitted the defendant to bail and required the Chairman of Yola North LGC to be his surety.

The defendant, who failed to produce his surety to fulfil the bail condition, was later remanded at Yolde Pate Correctional Centre.
