The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Prof Stephen Odey, has announced the constitution of a Ministerial and Local Government Taskforce to drive compliance with the newly approved education reforms across the state.
Odey made the announcement while answering questions from LEADERSHIP Sunday, a day after meeting with stakeholders in the education sector in Calabar.
He said that the education reforms, recently approved by Governor Bassey Otu, are aimed at strengthening the delivery of quality education and repositioning the education sector in Cross River State.
The task force, comprising representatives from all 18 local government areas and the ministry’s headquarters, will ensure effective policy implementation, strict monitoring, and enforcement of compliance.
Senator Odey stated that the committee will work collectively to safeguard and promote the success of the reforms, bringing together key stakeholders in the education sector.
The commissioner appealed to parents, guardians, education stakeholders, and the general public to give maximum cooperation to the task force, emphasising that their support is critical to the attainment of the reforms’ objectives.
The task force is expected to be officially inaugurated in two weeks’ time.
This initiative is seen as a significant step towards improving the education sector in Cross River State, and stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the impact of the reforms.
With the task force in place, the state government is poised to drive meaningful change and ensure that quality education is accessible to all.
