Damaturu-Gambir Road Completion A Major Relief For Us – Communities

Residents, farmers, and motorists along the Damaturu–Gambir corridor have hailed Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, for the successful completion of the newly constructed 16-kilometre road, describing it as a major infrastructural milestone that has transformed mobility and economic activities in the area.

The road provides vital access to Moduri, Alajiri, Mittiri, Malumti, and Gambir communities, as well as several estates in Damaturu, including Don Etiebet, Ben Kalio, and Red Bricks, among other smaller settlements. Beneficiaries say the project has significantly enhanced connectivity, reduced travel time, and boosted socio-economic interactions along the corridor.

Ali Modu, a farmer from Gambir, said the road has eased transportation for thousands of smallholders. “For years we struggled to move our grains because the road was terrible. Today, Governor Buni has wiped away our suffering. This road will reduce our losses and encourage more farming,” he said.

Similarly, 50-year-old Modu Alhaji Musa praised the quality of the project, noting that it has restored hope for rural residents long neglected in previous development plans. “The governor did not only construct a road; he connected families, farmlands, and opportunities,” he stated.

Commercial driver Bello Ahmed described the road as a game changer for business, eliminating rough terrain that previously damaged vehicles and discouraged trade. Passengers, he said, are now experiencing safer, faster, and more affordable travel.

The road project, which Governor Buni personally inspected in September, was completed within nine weeks, reflecting his administration’s commitment to people-centered development.
