The singer said it was important for him to react to the false rumours that circulated on various online platforms on April 1 after he got a barrage of calls from fans and well-wishers trying to confirm his safety.

He, however, affirmed that throughout his career, he has never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world.

Reports emanated from various online sources on Monday, April 1, 2024, alleging that the singer was arrested in East Africa.

But, Davido, reacting in a statement released via his X handle on Tuesday, said that he was not arrested and explained that contrary to reports, he had a successful tour in Kenya and Uganda, and he has now returned to Nigeria.

In the statement tagged ‘Setting record straight on false arrest report’, the singer vehemently condemned the rumours and called it extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fool’ celebration.
