Davido’s Sister Reveals Weekly Finance Meetings To Curb His Car Spending

Sharon Adeleke- Ademefun, sister of Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that she holds weekly financial meetings with the singer to monitor his spending, particularly his expenditure on cars and jewellery.

Sharon, who serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Davido’s record label, disclosed this during an appearance on The Morayo Show, where she spoke about her relationship with her brother, family wealth and her role in managing his finances.

Speaking about her responsibilities within Davido’s team, Sharon said she had been involved in her brother’s career and management from the beginning.

She said, “I’ve always taken care of David. He’s always been my baby. And from the beginning of his career, we always kind of worked together, I’ve always been a part of the management team.

“The problem is that me and David were always fighting. What other people can’t tell him, I’ll tell him. We grew up completely differently to how life is for us now, right? And I think that that has a lot to do with what people consider humility.”

Sharon also spoke about the financial structure surrounding wealthy families, explaining that being born into a family with significant wealth does not necessarily mean having unlimited access to cash.

According to her, “When you are born into a family office, family wealth, structure, there is structure. So, you don’t just get to go into a coffer and take whatever. So, you still have to live within whatever budget or means that you are given.

“A lot of nepo babies, should I say? They don’t have as much access to cash as you may think. They have more than the average person, but it’s not unlimited.”

Speaking specifically about Davido’s spending habits, Sharon said cars and jewellery are among the major areas where she frequently advises her brother to exercise restraint.

“One of the major things that I’m always getting on my brother is jewellery and cars. My God.

“And we will sit down to have a finance meeting every week, because I think that it’s important for him to know how his money is being spent and I’ll have to advise him saying, ‘David… please, no more cars.’”

Sharon, who has been married since 2013, also revealed that she was born in the United States and spent most of her years in the US and the United Kingdom before moving back to Nigeria in 2008.

She described her decision to return to Nigeria as one of the best decisions she has made, saying, “I love it here.”

She also disclosed that she learnt how to make wigs online after becoming frustrated with the difficulty of getting appointments with her preferred hairstylists.

“I learned how to make wigs because I was frustrated. I have really good hairstylists. They’re always busy,” she said.

On her marriage, Sharon said she had been open with her husband from the beginning about the kind of relationship she wanted.

“I’m a communication person. So, you know, when I met my husband, I explained to him that it was not going to be a traditional kind of marriage,” she said.

She recalled that during the early stages of their relationship, she cooked for her husband and later made it clear that, although she could cook, she did not particularly enjoy doing it.

“The first few weeks, months of us dating, I came to his house, I cooked and all the things. And when he was eating, I was like, ‘Oh, babe, are you enjoying the food?’ He said yes, I said, ‘good. So now you know I know how to cook. But I don’t like cooking. And I hope that’s not going to be a problem.’

“I think that I was very honest,” she added.
