Dayo Israel, the APC National Youth Leader, has called upon Nigerian youth to engage more seriously with sport, describing it as a potent and viable route to both personal and national achievement.

Speaking in the wake of Nigeria’s impressive global performances in armwrestling, wrestling, athletics, table tennis, and other disciplines, Israel highlighted that the athletes’ successes have once again showcased the nation’s vast sporting potential.

He characterised these recent triumphs as a clear indication of what can be achieved when talent converges with opportunity, discipline, and adequate backing, imploring young Nigerians to capitalise on the prospects within the sporting landscape.

“Sport is no longer merely recreation; it is a serious pathway to success, international recognition, and national pride. Our athletes have demonstrated what is achievable. I urge Nigerian youth not to be spectators but active participants in this journey. From Accra to Gaborone and Egypt, and other nations where our youth have made us proud, this brings joy to every Nigerian and to me personally as your youth leader. This endeavour should be a united front for all of us as we strive to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope mandate,” he stated.

While commending the athletes and officials, Israel also lauded the National Sports Commission (NSC) for its recent innovations, simultaneously urging it to intensify its dedication to sports development, infrastructure, and athlete welfare nationwide.

Israel reiterated that with sustained investment and increased youth involvement, Nigeria is poised to continue its dominance and excellence in global sporting competitions.
