The decomposing body of a middle-aged man was on Friday discovered near the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The deceased, whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was reportedly found in the early hours of Friday close to the school.
Checks indicated that the victim may have been killed elsewhere and dumped at the location.
Acting Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, ASP Victor Mshelizah, confirmed the discovery, stating that the body had been evacuated and deposited at the Federal Medical Center morgue.
He added that the remains had been taken into custody while investigations were ongoing to ascertain his identity.
ASP Mshelizah said it was too early to determine the identity of the deceased or the cause of death, noting that further details were being awaited from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) handling the case.
He, however, appreciated members of the public for their cooperation and support to the police.
