Indigenes of Ibusa community in Oshimili North local government area of Delta State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to direct security agencies to investigate the unending killing of youths and land grabbing in the area.

The president of Ibusa Youth Council, Ifeanyi Asiodu, who made the appeal on behalf of the community at a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, said the incessant killings and taking over of their lands by some individuals who brand themselves as cabals was worrisome.

Asiodu said that several efforts made by elders and other community members had failed to yield results, as those behind the crisis allegedly thwarted the efforts.

He said there have been several attempts by a gang allegedly supported by the local government authorities to assassinate him, as well as the destruction of his property.

The youth president linked the barbaric act to some people who feel they were above the law and security agencies, alleging that despite petitions to the police, nothing had been done.

Asiodu pledged his commitment to continue serving the community, despite frustration and threats to his life.

“I urge President Bola Tinubu and the inspector-general of police (IGP) to direct an investigation into the several cases of murder and land grabbing perpetrated by the chairman of the local government area and his boys.

The IGP should also use his good offices to investigate his officers who are aiding these criminal activities against the helpless people of the Ibusa community.

“IGP should investigate how a man who was declared wanted by the police for murder is now moving around with the chairman of the council without arrest.

“I am a loyal and committed citizen of the Ibusa community, serving with all my strength and resources, and will never support activities that will bring reproach to our community,” he said.
