The trailer of ‘The Other Side of the Bridge’, a film by Demi Banwo, just hit social media.
A Depth and Optics Production project, the film follows two fighters from opposite ends of Lagos: Femi (Demi Banwo), who is not fighting for the prize but has something to prove, and Farooq (Tobi Bakre), who is literally fighting for his life. Both meet again in a showdown, in the ring, at the Titan Tournament, where the best man takes it all.
The 2-minute trailer holds so much promise and excitement. Viewers can witness not just gimmicks but real, hard-ass training like many athletes without access to a high-end gym would do. The match scenes feel real, and one could sense the excitement in the short fighting scenes, as well as the players’ press conference shot shown in the trailer.
Apparently, Nigerian filmmakers have begun digging deep into our diverse yet authentic stories that are missing in the mainstream film industry.
Banwo said, “Four years of my life have gone into making this film, and the experience gave me a newfound respect for anyone who ventures into filmmaking because there were so many times it looked like this film wouldn’t happen. But here we are.
“In time, we’ll talk about the experience, but for now, sit with our teaser and enjoy.”
‘The Other Side of the Bridge’ has in its cast Tobi Bakre, Demi Banwo, Ireti Doyle, Olarotimi Fakunle, Mike Afolarin, Seun Ajayi, Awe Ayobami, Lasisi Elenu, Chisom Mbonu, and Njoku Udoka, among others. It is produced by Tolu Lord Tanner, Mr Adetoro, Demi Banwo, with 21 Real Estate Company and Demi Banwo as co-producers, and Art Anekwe as Production Designer.
‘The Other Side of the Bridge’ will hit Nigerian cinemas on April 17, 2026.
