DIA Confirms Killing Of Colonel By Gunmen In Abuja

The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), has confirmed the killing of one of it senior officer Colonel AA Ude following an attack by unidentified gunmen at his residence located at Phase 5, Army Housing Estate Kurudu, Abuja on Tuesday 27 July 2026.

A statement by the Acting Assistant Director Protocol, Defence Intelligence Agency Captain JE Oti said the incident occurred at about 1045pm.

Captain Oti said security and law enforcement agencies have commenced a full investigation into the incident,adding that every effort is being made to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible.

It stated further that the agency is working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the incident are thoroughly investigated.

The late senior officer served the nation with exceptional dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to the defence and security of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The DIA extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased senior officer as well as to colleagues and all members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The agency reaffirmed commitment to its constitutional mandate to safeguards Nigeria and assured the public that it will continue to work with all relevant agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
