Danny Nozell, the longtime manager of late country music star Dolly Parton, has withdrawn his lawsuit against her nephew, Bryan Seaver.
Court documents filed on Thursday show that Nozell and his legal team voluntarily dismissed the claims without prejudice, meaning they retain the option of bringing the case again. The development comes ahead of a hearing that had been scheduled for Tuesday. It remains unclear whether the parties reached a settlement.
The legal dispute began in September when Nozell accused Seaver, who previously headed Parton’s security team, of threatening and attempting to extort money from him. He alleged that Seaver used claims of military-contractor experience and access to weapons to intimidate him.
Seaver denied the allegations, telling TMZ that the messages cited in the lawsuit had been taken out of context.
The dispute escalated after Parton’s estate dismissed Seaver from his security position following her death on August 25, aged 80. A Tennessee judge subsequently issued a temporary restraining order barring Seaver and his security company from approaching Parton’s Nashville offices or interfering with her business.
