Immediate past dean,  Faculty of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Frank-Collins Okafor has advocated  effective education as a critical tool for unlocking the future of children.

In a lecture during the award of scholarships to 40 undergraduates in Ogbaru federal constituency of Anambra State by the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, at St. Lwanga Catholic Parish, Okpoko, yesterday, Prof. Collins emphasised that effective education acquisition is not limited to teaching and learning, but one that equips the beneficiary with “critical thinking, skills and values necessary for achieving success.”

The professor of Political Science and International Relations applauded Ogene for prioritising the education of the children of his constituency.

In his speech, Hon. Ogene decried the state of education amongst people of his constituency.

He lamented that there were job opportunities that required high education qualifications he secured for the people but couldn’t fill them because of lack of qualified persons in the constituency.

“For instance, last year, we had a chance to fill a number of federal government health roles, but, the responses we we received highlighted a harsh reality.

“Despite widespread announcements around Ogbaru, we were only able to get just one qualified nurse.
