The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ondo State yesterday raised the alarm over an alleged plot by some “dissident elements and hired agents of destabilisation” to truncate the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

IPAC also claimed that these persons have been engaging the media under the guise of several names and titles with the sole aim of truncating the peace and harmony gradually returning to the state after President Tinubu’s intervention.

In a communique issued after their meeting in Akure,  the state capital, the chairmen/leaders of political parties in the state assured that it will not fold its arms and allow “these inordinately ambitious agents of darkness to drag us backward anymore”.

In the communique signed by Elder Funsho Oloro; Jenyo Atanoko; Oyebamiji Lawrence; Fred Akinuli;  Peter Oladunoko; Rashidi Olaide, and Oladele Oluwasesan, the chairmen/leaders of political parties noted that the state has accepted the Peace Accord in good faith and there is no going back.

While adding that the status quo ante must remain and that no amount of mischievous media propaganda can derail the peaceful atmosphere,  IPAC urged the executive and legislative arms of government” to maintain harmony, cordiality, and sound interpersonal relationship to preserve this found peace currently enjoying in the state.”

The communique read: ” The Ondo State  Chairmen/Leaders of Political Parties at the end of their deliberations in Akure, the Ondo state capital,  hereby express their sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt and exemplary leadership intervention in the frightening and seemingly endless Political acrimony within the leadership of our great Ondo state, which problems were triggered by loss of trust and power tussle between our governor and his deputy.

“Following Mr President’s intervention, and the resolutions passed thereafter, our stance as Chairmen of political parties in the state is as follows;

“We hereby pass a vote of confidence in the able leadership of our indefatigable, visionary, and friendly governor, Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu, despite his present health challenges.  With every sense of responsibility, we make bold to say Arakunrin Akeredolu is a blessing and a  gift to Ondo state. A man of candor and exemplary integrity.

“We as  Chairmen of political parties in Ondo state, hereby call for Prayer and Support for our governor Arakunrin Akeredolu, in the conviction that the Almighty God will soon restore him to his office. He should be supported until the end of his tenure as governor.

“We sincerely advise both the deputy governor, His Excellency Lucky Ayedatiwa, and the Ondo State House of Assembly, to tread the path of honour and integrity by religiously adhering to the counsel and terms of the peace brokered by Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the enhancement of enduring peace and tranquility in Ondo state.

The status quo ante must remain untampered with.

” We have observed that peace and harmony are gradually returning to the Ondo state after Mr. President’s intervention and governance is once again finding full expression in the state.

“The suspended state executive meeting has resumed the admiration of Ondo state indigenes. Economic growth is steadily picking up in Ondo state and the state capital, Akure is beginning to wear a new look. Thanks to all concerned.

“Similarly, Ondo state Chairmen of political parties appreciate our governor Arakunrin Akeredolu, for the calmness and equanimity of mind with which he accepted the resolutions of Mr President, may God continue to guide and bless you sir, Arakunrin Akeredolu. Your response is a demonstration of maturity,  steadfastness, and unfeigned affection for your people,” the communique said.
