Don’t Drag Me Into Your Crisis, Adamu Warns NBB Of C

Former Director General of the National Sports Commission, Dr Amos Adamu, has issued a stern warning to individuals attempting to link him to the ongoing dispute between the Nigeria Boxing Federation and the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, insisting he will not be drawn into what he described as a “fabricated crisis”.

Adamu, who left the Sports Ministry over a decade ago, firmly denied reports suggesting he had criticised the National Sports Commission over the disagreement between the two boxing bodies.

Describing the claims as entirely false, he said: “This story is from the pit of hell — a total fabrication with no truth whatsoever. Why would I criticise or condemn my place of work? The Sports Ministry, now the Sports Commission, remains my primary constituency.”

The former CAF and FIFA official stressed that his long-standing loyalty to the institution makes such allegations implausible.

“Those who know my antecedents understand that I have never condemned an organisation to which I have committed my time and resources. Why would I start now?” he added.

Adamu clarified that his only involvement in the matter was a private discussion with Nigeria Boxing Board of Control President, Dr Rafiu Ladipo, who had visited him to seek counsel.

“Yes, Dr Ladipo came to my house to raise concerns about the issue, and I simply advised him to resolve the matter amicably with top officials of the Commission,” he explained.

He questioned how such a routine piece of advice could be misconstrued as a public condemnation, warning those spreading the reports to desist immediately or face legal consequences.
