Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde, has advised the Allied People’s Movement (APM) governorship consensus candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanbi, not to inherit his political enemies if elected, but to focus on building an independent leadership path.

Makinde gave the advice during the Presidential/Governorship Primary Election Exercise of the party, where he urged Adekanbi to remain focused on governance, service delivery, and continuity of development initiatives.

According to the governor, leadership is inherently imperfect, noting that those in public office are bound to make mistakes.

“Don’t inherit my enemies, chart your own path. I am only human and I make mistakes,” Makinde said.

He urged the governorship candidate to consolidate on his administration’s achievements while striving to deliver improved governance outcomes for residents of the state.

“Ensure you improve upon anything we have done for the benefit of our people,” he added.

Makinde also used the occasion to reflect on his administration’s governance agenda under the “Omituntun” development framework, expressing optimism about future progress in the state.

“You have experienced my first term, Omituntun 1.0. You have experienced my second term, Omituntun 2.0. Omituntun 3.0 is loading and I assure you that Bimbo Adekanbi will serve you better,” he said.

The governor’s remarks were met with applause from party supporters and stakeholders present at the event, as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections in Oyo State.
