Abia State Traditional Rulers Council has cautioned the House of Representatives deputy speaker, Ben Kalu against making comments that could pitch the governor, Alex Otti against President Bola Tinubu.
The monarchs stated this, Wednesday, in a statement signed by their chairman, Eze Linus Nto Mbah, and his three deputies after an emergency meeting in Umuahia, the state capital.
The statement, sighted by LEADERSHIP also appealed to him to desist from making public statements that could incite division or create political tension in the state.
According to the statement:”It is on this premise that we, as custodians of our culture, call for a ceasefire on the ongoing acrimony and unnecessary outbursts.
It said they would not remain silent while their disagreement continued to escalate, warning that such altercations could have adverse effects on the peace and progress of the state.
“They dismissed Kalu’s claims that the governor had underperformed despite receiving substantial funds, describing the statements as unsubstantiated.
The monarch’s, who reaffirmed their support for the governor and passed a vote of confidence on him, also urged him to continue his good works for the state.
“They lauded Otti’s leadership and developmental strides across the state, describing him as the most performance-driven governor the state has had in recent history.”
“It is on record that no governor of Abia State has demonstrated the political will to fix Abia State than Governor Alex Otti, OFR, Chioma Ndi Abia”, the statement added.
