Edo State All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Hon Gideon, yesterday said the people of Edo Central senatorial district will continue to reach out and negotiate with the other zones in a bid to produce the next governor of the state come 2024.

People of  Edo Central senatorial district are insisting on producing Obaseki successor. They have argued that the rotational understanding among the three senatorial district  should be adhered to in spirit of equity , fairness and justice.

Obhakhan while fielding questions from newsmen in Benin City, Edo State, said it is only fair that other zones who had produced the governor should support Edo Central in the quest to produce the next governor.

He said, “I think that people have different arguments for putting forward their opinion.  The question is where is the place of fairness, where is the place of minorities in their hearts? It is about inclusive governance because we all belong to one family.

“What most of these people don’t understand is that Edo is one, we all came from one root. So, those who are trying to create division for some selfish or political reason I think they are just largely begging the questions.

“If you look at the larger Nigeria as a country they are people who presented this argument which was what informed the decision of an Atiku to contest but did the large population helped? The answer is no. So what that means is that for any society there will be always people who look at morals, so having the numbers will not bring us together”

“If you look at the total number of votes Bola Ahmed Tinubu got from the shows, people at some point can just sit down and say what is fair is fair.

“So those of us who are in the minority will continue to   engage with all the tribes . For the reasonable people I will say there is consensus that it will be Edo central , nobody is saying is a do or die thing or we have the number but appealing to the conscience of those people who believe in fairness, equity and justice central should produce the next governor”.
