All Progressives Congress (APC), supporters yesterday stormed the party’s secretariat in Benin City yesterday to confirm media report that Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, a leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chieftain and a former member of the House of Representatives has been selected as the running mate to the APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

The governorship election will be held in September 2024.

At the APC secretariat on Airport Road, Benin City, APC members who came to the office said they received the news with optimism and came to rejoice with party’s officials.

One of them, Samson Iredia said the choice of Ogbeide-Ihama showed that, “affliction cannot come a second time. We are tired of the iron hand in the PDP, and we are ready to follow Ogbeide-Ihama to the APC.”

Ogbeide-Ihama, who represented Oredo federal constituency in the House of Representatives until 2023, has been reportedly tipped by leaders of the Legacy Group of the PDP for the deputy governorship slot, which Okpebholo and the Edo South leaders were said to be comfortable with.
