Founder and chief executive officer of Skyewise Group, Dr. Elvis Abuyere, has described Edo State as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising investment destinations, saying the state is rapidly attracting attention from investors seeking new opportunities outside traditional commercial centres.
Abuyere spoke during a press conference in Benin City, where he said Edo possesses enormous untapped economic potential capable of transforming the state into a major commercial hub in the coming years.
According to him, investors who continue to focus only on Lagos and Abuja risk overlooking the huge opportunities emerging in Edo’s growing economy.
“Benin City is a growing economy with enormous potential of young people and remains one of the most interesting states for us as part of our long-term vision,” he said.
The businessman disclosed that Skyewise Group, a multi-billion naira conglomerate with interests in automobile, finance, real estate, logistics and youth empowerment, is marking its 10th anniversary with a major expansion in Edo State.
He revealed that the company has completed a five-storey regional office complex on Airport Road in Benin City, describing it as one of the most modern commercial facilities in the state.
Abuyere said the building houses a state-of-the-art automobile showroom where customers can purchase brand new vehicles directly, a development he described as the first of its kind in Edo State.
“This is the first of its kind in Edo State where you can walk in and purchase a brand new car. We introduced advanced technology that allows cars to be lifted from the ground floor to upper levels for display,” he explained.
Speaking on the company’s financial services operations, Abuyere said Skyewise Group is helping businesses and individuals tackle liquidity challenges by providing accessible loans to support commercial activities.
“The most important reason for holding money is transactional, and at Skyewise Group, we are supporting that need by giving out loans to grow businesses in Benin City and its environment,” he noted.
He further highlighted the activities of the Skyewise Foundation, which he said has empowered more than 1,000 youths through grants, mentorship and entrepreneurship support programmes.
“We believe the future of Africa lies in entrepreneurship, and that future is in the hands of young Nigerians,” he stated.
Abuyere added that beyond financial support, the initiative is changing mindsets by encouraging young people to pursue legitimate business success and self-reliance.
“What we find more interesting is the change in orientation. When people see that success can be achieved legitimately, it inspires others to follow the same path,” he said.
The entrepreneur also commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for ongoing improvements in security and infrastructure, which he said are strengthening investor confidence across the state.
“I encourage investors to come to Edo State because the opportunities are enormous and largely untapped. The money is here, and we are already seeing results. Recently, a customer purchased over N900 million worth of products from us, which shows the viability of this market,” Abuyere added.
