The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said that he will overturn the despondent state of the State when elected as governor, adding that the level of his philanthropy in the state outweighs the achievement of the State government.

Okpebholo, who secured his party’s candidacy to mark a pivotal moment in his career and set the stage for a highly anticipated electoral contest, said he has built a reputation as a dedicated public servant and a philanthropist.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Edo State governorship election is slated for Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Okpebholo, in a video highlighting his achievements, which was made available on social media, said he has a hands-on approach and numerous community development initiatives, which earned him widespread admiration and support across the state.

Okpebholo, who hails from the Edo Central zone, said he has been providing free transportation services to residents, recognising the crucial role of mobility in economic and social activities.

By addressing transportation challenges, he said he has not only facilitated ease of movement but also boosted economic activities within the communities.

In the realm of education, Okpebholo said he has made a lasting impact by offering scholarships to deserving students.

By alleviating financial constraints, he has enabled numerous young individuals to pursue their academic dreams, reflecting his belief in the transformative power of education.

He said his access to clean water has been another priority, disclosing that he has funded the construction of boreholes in various communities within Edo Central to enable residents have reliable access to safe drinking water.

In his public addresses, Senator Okpebholo highlighted the stark contrast between his achievements and those of the current State governor, Godwin Obaseki, who has been in office for close to eight years.

He pointed out that despite the considerable time and resources at the governor’s disposal, the progress made under his administration pales in comparison to what he (Okpebholo) has accomplished through his personal efforts and resources.
