Ahead of the September 2023 elections into the Local Government Area Councils of Edo State, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Etsako East local government area of the State have zoned the chairmanship position to Ibie clan of the LGA while declaring to back the aspiration of Hon. Benedicta Ebuehi.
Hon. Ebuehi, a former chairman of Etsako Local Government Council had indicated her desire to re-contest for the chairmanship position of the Council and had penultimate week purchased her nomination forms to contest.
The PDP leaders and stakeholders at an enlarged meeting in Jatto, unanimously resolved to support Mrs Ebuehi to preside over the affairs of the Council even as they promised to mobilise the people of the locality to vote massively towards her victory at the September poll.
The meeting where she was endored was presided over by Governor Godwin Obaseki’s coordinator, Chief Sunny Adoga, and other leaders of the party.
Part of the resolutions read: “The house unanimously zoned the Chairmanship position to Ibie zone and Hon. Princess Benedicta Ebuehi was endorsed by the leaders. The Commissioner position is to be retain in Weppa Wanno zone and Hon. Emma Akhaba was also unanimously endorsed.
“The vice chairmanship position was zoned to Okpella and asked the leaders to nominate their candidate.”
Other party chieftains at the meeting included Chief Abdulkadiri Afegbua; Alhaji Yahaya Ameh, zonal leader Weppa Wanno, and Hon. Isah Anavberokhai.
Meanwhile, the chairmanship hopeful has vowed to commit all her leadership experience and influence within and outside Nigeria to partner with developmental groups to make Etsako East LGA an enviable local government area in Edo State and in Nigeria when elected as the chairman of the local government.
According to Mrs Ebuehi, “We must move ahead with confidence, determination, and surefootedness in our collective efforts in making Etsako East great. There can only be a reform when there is the will. I have the political will, the experience, and necessary connections with relevant development partners that will ease the burden of building an enviable Council.”
