The Edo for Good Movement Worldwide has expressed deep concern over what it describes as a persistent political imbalance in Edo South, warning that the trend is fueling a troubling narrative of disunity within the district.

In a statement issued by its national coordinator, Dr. Liberation Agobemenbhemindon, the group lamented that despite Edo South’s strong voting population and consistent electoral contributions, the district remains significantly underrepresented in critical leadership positions at both the state and federal levels.

According to the group, this disconnect between electoral strength and political influence has created a sense of imbalance that is increasingly being interpreted as internal weakness.

“The situation has given rise to a damaging narrative that Edo South lacks cohesion,”Agobemenbhemindon stated, noting that labels such as “Uma-Igbanedo” reflect a growing perception of division among the people.”

He warned that such perceptions, whether accurate or not, could erode the district’s political relevance if not urgently addressed.

“A politically – fragmented people risk being sidelined in governance. The imbalance we see today is not just structural—it is also psychological, as it reinforces the idea of disunity,” he said.

The group stressed that the challenge is less about a shortage of capable leaders and more about the absence of a unifying force to harmonize interests and project a common agenda.

It emphasized that without a coordinated voice, Edo South may continue to struggle in converting its numerical strength into tangible political gains.

As part of its call for redress, the movement urged stakeholders to embrace collective action and strategic alignment to counter the prevailing narrative.

The group also threw its weight behind Osagie Ize-Iyamu for the Edo South Senatorial seat, describing him as a figure capable of bridging divides and restoring a sense of unity and purpose.

The statement concluded with a call for discernment in leadership choices, warning that continued support for candidates lacking independence could further entrench the cycle of imbalance and deepen the perception of disunity within Edo South.
