The chairman, Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Barr Onome Goodness Briggs, has said the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration should do more to upscale the state’s educational system as part of its policy to instil morals in pupils and students.

She stated this during a familiarisation visit to some schools in Benin City as part of activities to commemorate the 2025 International Education Day.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “AI for Education” aimed at leveraging technology and internet to improve knowledge.

The SUBEB chairman and her entourage visited the Family Support Programme School in Ikpokpan GRA Benin City and Maria Gorretti Grammar School, Benin City.

Briggs met with staff and pupils of the school, intimating them on the essence of the commemoration.

She identified areas of challenge in the school which include insufficient teachers, just as she inspected conveniences and other facilities.

The SUBEB chairman also inspected class notes and other educational materials of the pupils, interacted with them on different subjects and supervised their reading ability.
