Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) has warned residents against reckless disposal of animal excrement in waterways during the upcoming Eid-el Kabir celebrations.
The director-general of the agency, Dr Kabir Ibrahim disclosed this in Bauchi during an interaction with community leaders and butchers.
He said the agency will not take it lightly with anyone who violates the order, adding designated waste collection centers were demarcated.
The director-general represented by the director Inspection, Enforcement and Compliance, Muhammad Usman Saleh warned Muslim Ummah in the State not to dispose of the slaughtered animals wastes in drainages, waterways and open spaces.
The director further said the agency will evacuate all waste disposed at its designated collection centers to keep the environment tidy.
He also warned against flaming of animal parts such as, heads, legs and skin using particles that will generate smoke in residential areas and to ensure they carry out the processings in places to be provided by the ward heads, adding that whoever is found going against the directives will be punished accordingly.
The director-general also used the forum to wish the Muslim Ummah across the globe a happy Eid celebration in advance.
Responding, the chairman of Butchers Association of Nigeria in Bauchi local government branch, Ibrahim Musa promised total compliance.
