LOTUS Bank hosted its 2026 Souq over the weekend, offering discounted ram sales and a vendor marketplace intended to help customers and families reduce Eid-el Kabir festive expenses.
Organisers said the event attracted customers, vendors, business owners and families, and featured shopping, networking and recreational activities ahead of the festive period. A Flash Ram Sale was held during the programme, with organisers reporting some rams sold at prices as low as N20,000.
Attendees described the discounted sales as helpful amid rising livestock costs. One participant, Muhammad Salaudeen, said the reduced-price sales were timely given current economic pressures.
Another attendee, Daud Abdulhameed, said the event provided support to families facing higher festive-season prices.
The Souq included stalls offering fashion, food, fragrances, accessories and household goods, as well as a children’s play area, games centre and a VIP/HNI lounge.
LOTUS Bank also presented a Hajj and Umrah savings product to customers during the event.
LOTUS Bank executives said the programme was intended to engage customers and communities beyond standard banking services.
Speaking at the opening session, the bank’s chairman, Alhaja Hajara Adeola, said the turnout and engagement were encouraging and framed the programme as reflecting the institution’s values. “This initiative reflects the values LOTUS Bank stands for — inclusion, ethical enterprise, community support, and shared prosperity,” she said.
The bank’s managing director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Isiaka Ajani-Lawal, described the Souq as a platform for supporting businesses and families.
“The Souq Programme is more than an event; it is a platform that creates opportunities, supports businesses, and delivers meaningful value to families and communities,” he said.
Industry observers described the event as consistent with efforts by some non-interest financial institutions to combine commercial activities with community outreach.
