The Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Saviour Enyiekere, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Kabir celebration, calling for renewed sacrifice, love and commitment to national development.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Enyiekere extended greetings to Muslim faithful and Nigerians, describing Eid el-Kabir as a sacred festival symbolising sacrifice, obedience, love and devotion to Almighty God.

He said the celebration serves as a reminder of the virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, including unwavering faith, selflessness and total submission to God’s will.

According to him, these values remain essential for building a stronger, more united and peaceful society where all citizens can thrive.

“As we celebrate this important festival, I urge Nigerians, irrespective of religious, ethnic, or political affiliations, to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, tolerance, love, and mutual understanding in our nation’s journey towards national unity, peace, and development,” he said.

Enyiekere also urged Nigerians to play their individual roles in promoting peace and contributing to national development.

He noted that Eid el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha or the “Greater Eid,” commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God, a test of faith that ultimately led to divine intervention.

The festival is observed globally by Muslims as a reminder of obedience, devotion and submission to Allah.
