Ekiti Okays 4.4bn For Agric, Health, Empowerment Projects

Ekiti State Government has approved a total 4,413,459,370.78 billion naira for the execution of agriculture, health, environmental protection, empowerment and other projects.

 

The projects, the state Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, said were approved at the State Executive Council weekly meeting in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

 

 

He said the Council at its third meeting of the year considered and approved a range of policy initiatives and strategic projects aimed at strengthening governance, enhancing institutional capacity, advancing infrastructure development, and promoting sustainable socio-economic growth across the State.

 

 

Olatunbosun in a statement made available to the newsmen said the council approved ₦1,552,500,000.00 for land clearing across selected communities to Support Youth in Agriculture Programme (2026)

 

He said, “The intervention will cover 675 hectares and be executed through direct procurement based on contractor capacity and performance.This initiative reinforces the Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and agricultural expansion”.

 

 

Also approved is the sum of ₦1,101,428,746.00 for the construction of warehouses across five locations under the “Bring Back Our Youths Programme.”

 

The Commissioner said the warehouses will enhance storage capacity, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen agricultural value chains.

The Executive Council also okayed the sum of ₦737,743,476.67 for the installation of solar power systems and additional works on ongoing renovation projects across key health facilities in the State.

 

The contract, covers nine General Hospitals, the Government House Clinic, the Hospitals Management Board (HMB) Headquarters, and selected structures at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

 

 

The sum of ₦500,000,000.00 was also approved by the Council for the implementation of a Subsidized Tractorization Programme.

 

The programme, according to him was designed to boost agricultural productivity, expand cultivated land, and improve food security by providing subsidized access to tractors and farm implements, particularly ahead of the 2026 planting season adding that the initiative reinforces the Government’s commitment to agricultural transformation and food security.

 

 

The Executive Council approved the sum of ₦197,348,500.00 for the execution of earth-dredging works on river courses at critical flood-prone locations across Ekiti State.

 

The project will be carried out in Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, Irepodun/Ifelodun, and Emure Local Government Areas.

 

 

Others are approval of ₦101,948,000.00 for compensation to landowners affected by the Agro-Industrial Hub in Itapaji under the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Programme, approval of the sum of ₦161,768,108.11 for the renovation of the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Clinic and Ultra-Modern Garment Factory located at Odua Textile, Ado-Ekiti.

 

 

There was also the approval of Payment of ₦60,722,540.00 as Compensation to 15 property owners affected by the acquisition and demolition of structures within the 50-metre setback along the airport entrance corridor.

 

Olatunbosun said the Council remains committed to the timely and transparent implementation of all approved projects, in line with global best practices and the administration’s development agenda.
