The Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has said that the programmes and policies of Governor Biodun Oyebanji have made a significant impact on the lives of the people of Ekiti State.
Bamidele, who also doubles as Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Campaign Council, said Oyebanji’s excellent performance in the last three and a half years has made his re-election an easy task, as the electorate has resolved to reward and appreciate him with an overwhelming number of votes.
The senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly stated this in Ijero, Efon Alaaye, and Aramoko on Monday during Governor Oyebanji’s campaign tour of Ijero, Efon, and Ekiti West Local Government Areas respectively.
He spoke as Ekiti State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, expressed confidence in securing a landslide victory in the June 20 governorship election.
Governor Oyebanji said his performance since assuming office, which has been widely acknowledged as superlative and commendable, has assured him of the commitment of Ekiti people to return him for a second term with a record number of votes.
Addressing the crowd at the campaign ground, Oyebanji described Ijero Local Government as a progressive stronghold that had always delivered impressive voting figures, adding that he expected the momentum to increase in the coming election as part of efforts to achieve the minimum target of 500,000 votes.
The governor specifically tasked APC chieftains and members to mobilise eligible voters with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in their polling units and wards, especially non-party members, and convince them to vote for the APC in the election.
The APC flag bearer said he was confident of victory based on his performance and well-documented achievements in key sectors including infrastructure, education, agriculture, rural development, human capital development, and workers’ welfare.
He said: “As a party, we have set a target for ourselves. We have set a minimum target of 500,000 votes. All of us must return to our units and wards and identify every registered voter, especially those who are not members of our party but have voter cards.
“If performance is the yardstick, we have nothing to fear because of what we have done in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, human capital development, workers’ salaries, and the welfare of our pensioners.
“The votes must be massive and, on June 21 when the result will be declared, I want the President to hear the quantum of votes and be reassured. In Ekiti, we are going to speak with our votes. On election day, take at least five persons along with you to the polling booth and vote for APC.”
Also, an APC chieftain in the state, Mr Abiodun Borisade, said God is using Governor Biodun Oyebanji to unite Ekiti’s voice and political direction. He added that come June 20, 2026, the governor, whom he described as a “Child of Destiny,” would through divine intervention secure a place in the political history of Ekitikete by galvanising the entire political space to ensure his return to office for a second term.
He said the journey had at times been turbulent, as expected, but the “ship” stayed steady on course while more well-wishers joined the movement.
According to him, “Today at the Ijero Local Government BAO campaign tour, I joined the multitude of our party faithful present to witness and support the unstoppable campaign train aimed at ensuring a peaceful victory for the governor.
“The campaign efforts from all and sundry are evidence of the governor’s public acceptability. From my polling unit and ward (Iloro/Ijurin), you can see supporters wearing T-shirts and caps bearing the AbiodunBorisadeTV logo in solidarity with the APC Ekiti mantra.
“In furtherance of this re-election bid, the ‘Door-to-Door’ mobilisation team received support from my humble self through the facilitation of three BAO Anchor Groups in Iloro Ward A, Iloro/Ijurin Ward B, and one in my Ado-Ekiti neighbourhood.
“So far, so good, as the general public has come to realise the importance of fulfilling their civic duty by voting on election day. Hence, there is confidence that Ekitikete will record over 500,000 votes for Governor Oyebanji on June 20, 2026.”
At Efon Alaaye, the governor, who spent part of his formative years in the town, listed several projects executed by his administration and the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu, urging the electorate to reciprocate with their votes.
He listed the projects to include the Alanaka Road, Efon Alaaye General Hospital, transformers, the Efon-Ipole-Ikogosi Road, Primary Health Centres, Teacher Training College, and the Itawure-Erio-Aramoko federal highway leading to Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, where work is ongoing.
The governor attributed the achievements of his administration to the benevolence and magnanimity of President Tinubu and urged the electorate in Efon to show appreciation through massive support at the polls.
“If we have a President who has done all these for us, we need to appreciate him in return by voting for his party, the APC, in all forthcoming elections. In 2022, you did not vote for our party, yet we worked for you. But in the coming election, you will combine the votes of 2022 with those of 2026, and the figure will rise significantly.”
Speaking further, Senator Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, appreciated the people of the state for their support for Oyebanji and the APC. He canvassed for another opportunity for the governor to consolidate on the good governance being enjoyed in the state.
The Senate Leader said: “Governor Oyebanji’s first term has been beneficial to Ekiti because the state has witnessed transformation in all sectors. Also, Ekiti has enjoyed peace under his administration. There is unity of purpose and development under him.
“It is not just a question of winning the election but winning by a wide margin. Let us cast our votes massively for APC and Governor Oyebanji for this good work to continue and for our state to keep moving forward.”
The State APC Chairman, Barrister Sola Elesin, stressed that the governor has done enough to justify another term in office, noting that all hands must be on deck to ensure his re-election.
Representatives of various interest groups who spoke at the rallies praised the impact of the Oyebanji administration and pledged their readiness to cast their votes to make his re-election a reality.
They commended Oyebanji’s inclusive style of governance, the appointment of their indigenes into key government positions, projects executed in their communities, and the empowerment of citizens, among other achievements.
