A grassroots politician, Hon. Yusuf Saka Eletu, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency of Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eletu reportedly secured over 20,000 support votes during the party’s affirmation process conducted in the presence of officials and stakeholders.
The exercise was witnessed by a delegation from the PDP secretariat, Kwara State PDP Chairman, Hon. Issa Bawa, party leaders, as well as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Supporters and stakeholders of the PDP have described Eletu’s emergence as a major step towards strengthening the party’s chances in the constituency ahead of the next general elections.
Party faithful at the event said the consensus arrangement reflected growing unity within the PDP in Ilorin East and Ilorin South local government areas.
They also described Eletu as a grassroots politician with sustained engagement across the constituency, expressing confidence in his ability to mobilise support for the party.
Supporters further noted that the reported 20,000 support votes underscored the level of acceptance he enjoys among party members and residents.
According to them, the endorsement was an indication of confidence in Eletu’s capacity to provide quality representation and effectively champion the interests of the people at the National Assembly.
