In an effort to complement the efforts of the state government on employment generation, the senator representing Yobe East Senatorial district, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam has facilitated the training of the 40 youth and women on fish farming, shoes and bag making under his constituency.
The training funded by the federal government through the Border Community Development Agency (BCDA) took place at the community Multi-purpose town hall, Damaturu.
Sen. Gaidam while speaking during the skills acquisition training said the trainees where selected from across the 7 local government areas of his constituency was meant to help reduce the rate of unemployment especially amongst youth and the women.
He said the present administration of Hon Mai Mala Buni has injected huge sums of money towards creating employment opportunities in the state hence the need for measures that will help complement the government’s efforts.
“In continuation of our effort on reducing the rate of unemployment through annual conduct of skill acquisition programmes, another set of youth and women were selected from his constituency to undergo training on several trades.
“This time around, the programme will train 400 youths and women on fish farming, shoes as well as bag making.”
Gaidam also said based on the arrangement, the selected beneficiaries will apart from enjoying starter kids after the training also train as many people as possible across the constituency.
The former governor of the state charged the benefiting trainees to pay rapt attention during the training and make good use of the items billed for distribution for better results.
The assistant planning Officer of the BCDA Mr Rotimi Tawo while speaking said the agency being the sponsor of the training was in Damaturu to monitor the entire exercise including beneficiaries selection, training and graduation process for better results.
