Chukwu, who hails from Amuri Community in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State, disclosed this on Wednesday during a town hall meeting at the village market square to brief his constituents on some of his achievements in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.

The federal lawmaker told his constituents that his decision to quit the Labour Party was informed by the protracted crisis rocking the party which has led to its division.

He noted that this development has seriously affected the members of the party even as he added that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was equally currently swimming in a deep mess.

He declared that he would formally declare for his new party at the floor of the Senate during plenary when the lawmakers resume.

The senator had during the meeting which was attended by the immediate-past state Chairman of the APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye, the traditional ruler, as well as dignitaries from the area, expressed appreciation to the people for his support since assuming office at the NASS, and promised not to let them down.
