A former chairman of Isuikwuato local government area, Charles Ojukwu, has faulted the quality of job executed by a federal government contractor on Ahaba Imenyi – Abia State University, Uturu Road in the area.

Ojukwu made the observation while speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend yesterday when he visited a collapsed and erosion-hit portion of the road, describing the portion as dangerous.

He maintained that the temporary job done at the site last year by the contractor could not meet up to the required standard in terms of quality and engineering.

The one-time commissioner for environment in the state expressed concern that if urgent action was not taken to repair the portion, it would get worse as the rainy season sets in.

“If nothing is done to rehabilitate the portion before the rains set in, the road would be totally cut off and constitute a threat to the road users,” the former NNPC general manager noted.

He appealed to both the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, and the National Emergency Agency “to visit the site for an on-the-spot assessment with a view to doing the needful.”
