They included former governors of the state – Mr. Udom Emmanuel; Tunde Ogbeha, and Yakubu Bako; the leadership of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, and others.

They all thronged the Ikot Ekpene-Udo village of the Governor in Nsit Ubium local government area, urging the bereaved family, to gather strength and take solace in the fact that the departed matriarch lived a life worthy of emulation for god and humanity.

Describing the demise of Mrs Eno, as a great loss, not only to the state, but to the entire Niger Delta, PANDEF’s national chairman, Hon. Godknows Igali, who also delivered a special condolence message from the National leader, Chief Edwin Clark, said: “The late first lady was a woman who lived well and served the people of Akwa Ibom State, Niger Delta, and Nigeria in general.”

He, therefore, assured the governor of the group’s support throughout the challenging period and beyond.

On his part, the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the group, Obong Victor Attah, acknowledged that it was a sad experience to lose a loved one and prayed that God would guide and protect the Governor and his family and give them the strength to overcome the pains.

In the same vein, Emmanuel, and the two former military administrators of the state, Ogbeha and Bako, and the state’s ALGON, chairman, who doubles as the chairman of Uyo LGA, expressed sympathy for the first family, and prayed for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Eno, and for strength for the family to bear the unfortunate loss.

Responding, Governor Eno, appreciated all for the visit and commended PANDEF for its exceptional work in the Niger Delta region.

“This visit underscores the love that this group has for all of us in the Niger Delta, and it will further strengthen us for higher service to our people knowing that, our leaders are behind us.

“We will continue, by the grace of God, as long as God gives us strength, to be good ambassadors with the position that God, through our people has given us, ” he assured.
