Ex-Kebbi Gov, 2 Others Receive Honorary Degrees

Four eminent Nigerians including former Kebbi State governor, Alhaji Saidu Dakingari and business moguls, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, Mr Leo Stan Ekeh  and Ambassador Abubakar Sani have received honorary doctorate degrees from the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) at its 1st-5th maiden combined convocation ceremony held yesterday at the university.

Vice chancellor of the university, Prof Muhammad Umar said the university’s management decided to honour the awardees due to their contributions to the university, Kebbi State and the country in general.

According to him, these illustrious public servants and philanthropists had made tremendous contributions in the take-off and subsequent transformation of the university.

Umar also disclosed that a total of 3,373 graduands across the five sessions were found worthy in character and learning to receive the degree certificates of the university.

He noted that the convocation also coincided with the 10 years of activities of the institution and will be the first of its kind in its history.

The visitor to the university and president, Bola Tinubu commended the university and the graduates for the successful convocation.

 

Represented by the minister of state for education, Dr Yusuf Tanko, Tinubu pledged that the federal government would continue to assist education in all its ramifications.
