Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has applauded the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government for acknowledging his administration’s development strides in the last two years.
He said the laurel would spur him for more work in the state.
The governor recently received the Distinguished Award for Excellence in Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service, which was presented to him by the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Mr George Akume.
In an interview with journalists at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, the state capital upon his return from Abuja, the nation’s capital where the award was presented, he said he dedicated the award to the Akwa Ibom people.
“For me, the award comes as an inspiration, and as a reminder that the world is watching us, and I’m thankful to God,” he enthused.
According to governor Eno, the award represented a product of collective work, support and efforts of the citizenry, and not a lone achievement.
“It’s not about me; it’s about everyone that has helped us to realize our vision. A vision can be cast by one person, but it takes a whole lot of people to make the vision succeed. It’s our people who have made this possible through their support,” he noted.
“It’s a collective award. It’s an award for Akwa Ibom people. And, I pray that God will continue to help us to do more of what we have promised the people,” he stressed.
Besides, the governor extended his hands of fellowship to wish the President of the 10th Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, good health and long life as he celebrates his birthday yesterday, December 9.
“May God continue to imbue him with wisdom for him to continue to lead the Nigerian 10th Senate as the Chairman of the National Assembly,” he prayed.
He assured Senator Akpabio of the support of all Akwa Ibom people back home, saying “All of us here at home will continue to support him in the Senate, and also for his re-election into the Senate in 2027 to continue his good work with President Bola Tinubu.
