A group of experts have emphasised the need for a comprehensive approach to address the growing insecurity in Nigeria.
While addressing journalists in Abuja during the 3rd Islamic Annual conference of the Aonus Sunnah Da’wah group, Dr Bashir Abdul, a senior lecturer at the Federal University of Education, Zaria, emphasised the importance of knowledge in understanding and worshipping Allah.
In a recent discussion, he highlighted the effects of disconnection from Allah on individuals and society.
According to Dr Abdul, disconnection from Allah can have many negative consequences, including poor moral character and a lack of direction.
He stressed that knowledge is essential for Muslims to worship Allah properly and live a virtuous life.
Regarding faith-based initiatives, Dr Abdul noted that while they can positively impact areas like education and healthcare, they must be guided by strict adherence to Islamic principles.
He cautioned against Muslims engaging in activities that contradict their faith, particularly in situations where external factors may influence them.
Dr Abdul also emphasised the government’s importance in regulating spiritual movements, particularly in maintaining law and order.
He advised the government to take a keen interest in religious matters and ensure that different faiths are practised peacefully.
On the issue of religious tensions and violence, Dr Abdul called for strict adherence to spiritual teachings and for the government to monitor religious activities to prevent conflicts.
He emphasised the need for mutual respect and understanding among different faiths.
Ustaz Yusuf Abdul Salam Jabrata Speaks on Disconnection from Allah and Its Effects on Society
Ustaz Yusuf Abdul Salam Jabrata, founder of An-Nusra Islamic Dawah group, has highlighted the growing concern of disconnection from Allah and its devastating effects on society.
In a recent discussion, he emphasised that many people have deviated from the path of Allah, succumbing to satanic influences and materialistic pursuits.
According to Ustaz Jabrata, the founder of Aonus Sunnah Islamic Da’wah society, the economic situation in Nigeria has contributed significantly to this disconnection, leading individuals to seek quick fixes and illicit means to sustain their lives.
He lamented the rise of cybercrime, particularly among young graduates, and the erosion of moral values.
The Islamic cleric called on the government to take responsibility for addressing security challenges and providing for its citizens.
He urged the government to wake up and do its duty towards its citizens, ensuring peace and prosperity in the country.
Jabrata emphasised the importance of returning to Allah and following His teachings to find true peace and prosperity.
He also condemned acts of violence and genocide, stating that they are not Islamic and have no place in Muslim communities.
Jabrata calls on individuals, communities, and the government to work towards a more just and peaceful society.
Also speaking at the event, Professor Abdelaziz Shitu Balogun, the immediate past head of the Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Abuja, emphasised the importance of peace and practicality in Islamic teachings.
Professor Balogun urged Muslims to embody the values of compassion, justice, and peace in their daily lives.
He expressed concern about the security challenges faced by some states in Nigeria, particularly those with significant Muslim populations.
“Acts of violence and terrorism have no place in Islam,” he said. “Muslims should strive to protect human life and promote peace.”
He highlighted the importance of interfaith understanding and cooperation in promoting peace and security.
He quoted the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as saying that the Angel Gabriel used to instruct him about being good to his neighbours, regardless of their faith.
The Professor called on Muslims to retrace their steps and abide by the teachings of the Quran and the Hadith.
They emphasised that protecting human life and promoting peace are fundamental to Islamic teachings.
Mukhtar Yusuf, a media and politics expert from Aounus Sunnah Islamic Dialogue, emphasised the need for a comprehensive approach to addressing Nigeria’s growing insecurity.
He highlighted the issue’s complex nature, citing politicians’ exploitation of religious sentiments and the need for government and community efforts to find solutions.
According to Yusuf, the violence and killings in the north are not solely related to religion, but rather a complex issue with political and economic undertones.
He called on the government to have the political will to address the root causes of these issues and work with communities to find solutions.
Yusuf also emphasised the importance of the home and family environment in shaping individuals’ values and behaviours.
He noted that the government should create jobs and policies to discourage people from engaging in criminal activities.
The expert’s comments come amid growing concerns about the security situation in Nigeria, particularly in the north, where Boko Haram and bandits have been wreaking havoc.
Yusuf’s call for a comprehensive approach highlights the need for a multifaceted solution to address the country’s complex issues.
The government has been working to address the security challenges, but more needs to be done to tackle the root causes of the problem. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to citizens’ growing concerns.
He urged the state and national governments to take a more proactive approach to addressing the country’s security challenges.
Many have called for increased security measures and economic and social programs to address the root causes of the problem.
The situation in Nigeria remains a concern, and it is hoped that the government will take concrete steps to address the issue and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
