The national youth leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Comrade Onyebuchi Eze, has emerged as the new chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN).
He defeated Olajide Wolimoh of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in a keenly contested election held last Saturday at the group’s secretariat in Gwarimpa, Abuja.
Twelve of the 19 national youth leaders in attendance included the representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Dayo Israel and the Labour Party (LP).
The exercise was supervised by Hon. Chigozie Udogu of the YPP, who also served as the Forum’s Electoral Committee chairman.
The official results showed that Eze secured seven votes, while Wolimoh got four of the 11 valid ballots cast.
Other winners were Muhammad Sani Abdullahi (Accord Party) as vice chairman, Amina Mama Yahaya (APM) as legal adviser and Ugoh Michael Tochi (APP) as treasurer.
In his post-election remarks, Eze said under his leadership, the forum “will not be used as a tool by the ruling party or as an attack dog against the opposition,” but would serve as a watchdog on government policies and a defender of Nigerian youths’ interests.
Wolimoh congratulated the winners and emphasised his vision to make the forum a vibrant platform for youth inclusion, innovation and political engagement across party lines.
