Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, now know their path in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The young Nigerian side will launch their campaign with a high-profile clash against European powerhouse Spain.

The Group F encounter is scheduled for Monday, 7 September 2026, at the Arena Sosnowiec in Poland. Kick-off details will be confirmed closer to the tournament.

Spain, known for its possession-based, technical football and recent success in women’s youth categories, will pose a stern test for Moses Aduku’s charges.

Following that opening challenge, the Falconets will remain at the same venue for their second group match.

They will face China PR on Thursday, 10 September – just three days after the Spain showdown. China boasts a rich history in women’s football and will be another formidable opponent, making this group one of the tournament’s most intriguing.

The Falconets will round off their group stage commitments against tournament debutants New Caledonia on Sunday, 13 September.

This fixture will take place at the Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź, a different venue from the first two games. New Caledonia, a Pacific island nation, will be competing in their first-ever U-20 Women’s World Cup, and Nigeria will be keen to secure maximum points from that encounter.

Driven by a burning desire to make history, the Falconets are aiming to go all the way and claim Nigeria’s first-ever U-20 Women’s World Cup title.

The team has come close on several occasions, finishing as runners-up in 2010, 2014, and 2022. This time, they hope to finally lift the trophy.

Poland has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2026 edition, with the tournament running from 5 to 27 September.

This marks the competition’s return to European soil eight years after France last staged it in 2018. Matches will be played across multiple cities, with the final set scheduled for 27 September.
