The African Alliance Party (AAP) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to comply with a Court of Appeal judgment directing it to register the party, warning that delays could affect its preparations for the 2027 general election.
The party made the appeal in a communiqué issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, following a meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC) at its national secretariat in Abuja.
AAP said the Court of Appeal, Makurdi Division, had, in its judgment delivered on June 11, 2026, ordered INEC to register the party as a political party.
It also advised voters not to rely solely on INEC’s Results Viewing Portal, IReV, when assessing election outcomes, but to ensure that their votes were counted and properly reflected in the final results.
The communiqué was signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq.
AAP expressed optimism about its political prospects, declaring that a new, better, and greater Nigeria was possible through its platform.
The party’s appeal has renewed attention on the implementation of the reported court order as the countdown to the 2027 general election continues. Formal registration would represent a significant step towards its plans to field candidates and participate in the elections.
End.
