Family members of a personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Squadron Leader Nurudeen Popoola, have urged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the state’s police command to intensify their rescue operation, saying the victims are still in captivity seven weeks after their abduction.
The Oke-ogun Oyo State-born naval officer was abducted along with his wife, Ganiyat Olawale-Popoola and Abdulmumuny Folaranmi around 1 am on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
The three victims are indigenes of Iseyin local government area of Oyo State.
Speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, a family member, Alhaji Olatunde Rafiu, said, “They have not been released as of now. It has been seven weeks since they were kidnapped.”
Rafiu, who claimed to be a cousin to the air force officer, appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure the release of the victims.
He said, “We are renewing our appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to help us do something within the little time left of the ultimatum given.”
