Officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have pulled down shanties at the 1st Kabusa Junction Inter-Change, Ring Road Two, Southern Part Expressway in Apo Dutse district.
The director FCT Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima who led the operation, told journalists that removal of the illegal structures would bring about sanity in the area and that the area was becoming an eye sore in the city as well as paving the way for unhealthy environment.
According to him, the minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike had directed that illegalities should not be allowed in the territory, and he said that all activities must be confined to the best standards.
Galadima explained that in years to come, an overhead bridge will be constructed around the place.
“The removal of the shanties is in continuation of our commitment to keep sanity in the city and make the neighbourhood and environment healthy. Kabusa is an eyesore to the city starting from the junction.
“The place is an inter-section of Ring Road Two and the Outer Southern Part expressway. It is a reservation for an inter-change with time there will be over overhead bridge that will connect Ring Road Two and the Outer Southern Way.
“We are starting from this point to Galadima roundabout, when we chase out the people we will come up with a plan that will accommodate all the traders, at least we will put them in an organised manner,” he said.
