The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has reiterated its commitment to strengthening women entrepreneurship and creating an enabling environment for private sector-led economic growth, saying increased investment in women-owned businesses is critical to sustainable national development.
Minister of state for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, stated this on Friday at the closing ceremony of the Women in Business and Impact Day of the Abuja Business and Investment Summit/Expo (ABIE) 2026, organised by the Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL) at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

She said women entrepreneurs remain key contributors to job creation, innovation, family welfare and economic development, stressing that expanding their access to finance, markets, technology, mentorship and leadership opportunities would accelerate inclusive growth.

Mahmoud urged participants to convert the ideas, partnerships and business connections established during the summit into tangible investments capable of delivering lasting economic benefits for Abuja and the country.

The minister assured investors that the FCT Administration, under the leadership of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, would sustain investments in critical infrastructure, deepen reforms to improve the ease of doing business and implement policies that encourage greater private sector participation.

According to her, the administration’s initiatives are fully aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on economic diversification, entrepreneurship, innovation, women’s empowerment and private sector-driven development.

She commended the Abuja Investments Company Limited, development partners, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and participants for the successful hosting of the summit, expressing optimism that the investment commitments and partnerships forged during the event would translate into measurable economic gains.

In her remarks, the group managing director and chief executive officer of AICL, Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, said the first two days of ABIE 2026 successfully projected Abuja as a prime investment destination, attracting strategic partnerships and landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at advancing the sustainable development of the FCT and Nigeria.

Tamuno praised the keynote speaker, Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe-Addo, deputy chief of Staff (Administration) in the Office of the President of Ghana and former Minister of Gender, as well as Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for their support and contributions to the success of the Women in Business and Impact Day.

She also expressed appreciation to development partners, investors, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and participants for making the summit a success, reaffirming AICL’s commitment to building an innovative, inclusive and globally competitive Abuja in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
