The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Taskforce on City Sanitation has ramped up its operations to address criminal activities in Abuja as the festive season approaches.

Recent raids targeted notorious hotspots for “one-chance” scams, including Area 1, Apo Bridge, Berger Roundabout, and Banex Junction. The raids resulted in the impounding of several vehicles and the arrest of multiple suspects.

Following Wednesday’s operation, Adamu Gwary, Director of Security Services, represented by Peter Olumuji, Secretary of the Command and Control Centre, stated that the initiative is designed to enhance safety during the festive period.

The campaign, which commenced earlier this week, has already led to the arrest of four beggars suspected of criminal involvement, the seizure of vehicles linked to ‘one chance’ syndicates, and the detention of an individual impersonating a police officer.

Gwary stressed the need for community vigilance, encouraging residents to take note of vehicle details when using transportation services.

In a related update, Deborah Osho, Head of Operations at the Road Traffic Services Directorate, reported that over 60 vehicles had been impounded in just two days.
