The federal government has congratulated the Super Eagles for winning the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco, praising the team for their resilience, unity, and inspiring performance throughout the tournament.
In a statement issued to journalists on Saturday night in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the team’s achievement was a source of pride and joy to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
“On behalf of the Federal Government and all Nigerians, I congratulate you on winning the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Your performance throughout the tournament was a source of pride and joy for our nation,” he stated.
He noted that the Super Eagles upheld Nigeria’s rich football tradition, displaying heart, skill, and resilience from the group stages to the final whistle in Casablanca.
According to him, the team did more than compete, as they inspired millions of Nigerians with their courage, unity, and belief in one another.
The minister added that securing the bronze medal further strengthened Nigeria’s remarkable AFCON legacy, describing the team’s displays against strong opponents as disciplined and full of fighting spirit.
He reaffirmed that Nigeria remains a powerhouse in African football.
Idris also commended the coaches, support staff, and players for their dedication and sacrifices, saying their teamwork and national pride were evident on every pitch they played on.
“Although the ultimate prize may have eluded you this time, know that this bronze medal is earned with dignity and effort. It belongs not only to you but to every Nigerian who cheered, believed, and stood by you throughout this competition,” he said.
He urged the team to celebrate the achievement with pride and allow it to strengthen their resolve for future challenges, concluding with congratulations to the Super Eagles and prayers for the nation.
“Congratulations, Super Eagles. Nigeria applauds you. God bless you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
