The Federal Government has urged the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to conduct thorough due diligence in formulating a workable and acceptable revenue allocation for the country.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, made this request while receiving a significant delegation from the Management of RMAFC, led by its Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information in his office, Segun Imohiosen, the SGF expressed confidence in the capacity of the Commission’s management to fulfil their mandate in developing a comprehensive revenue allocation formula and assured them of his Office’s readiness to provide the necessary support for the realisation of the project.

Senator Akume further stated that the Commission should incorporate an irreducible minimum allocation for certain MDAs, such as the Ministry of Defence, due to its critical role in maintaining peace and defending the country’s territorial sovereignty.

Earlier, the Chairman of RMAFC, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, assured the SGF that the Commission is working on a new revenue allocation formula and that a draft copy will soon be forwarded to his Office for input before it is sent to the National Assembly for final approval.
