The Federal Government has expressed deep concern and solidarity following the distressing abduction of civil servants.

The federal government, through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), has condemned the kidnapping of an unspecified number of civil servants in Kogi State while travelling to Abuja for a promotion examination.

The officials were travelling to the nation’s capital on Tuesday to participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) promotion examination conducted by the Federal Civil Service Commission when they were seized by gunmen around the Kabba area.

In a statement released yesterday, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, confirmed the incident and extended the service’s sympathy and solidarity to the abducted officers, their families, and colleagues across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The statement highlighted the widespread anxiety within the civil service, noting that the entire Public Service family is holding the victims and their loved ones in their thoughts and prayers.

The head of Service further called on all Nigerians to join in fervent prayers for their safe and speedy release.

Amidst growing concerns over the safety of public servants, Walson-Jack expressed “confidence in the ability of the security agencies to ensure the swift and safe rescue” of the kidnapped staff.

The head of Service, while urging civil servants and the general public to remain calm and vigilant, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare, safety, and well-being of its workforce.

“We stand together as one Civil Service family, united in faith, hope, and solidarity- praying earnestly for the safe return of our colleagues. Their safety and well-being remain our utmost priority,” she said.
