The Governing Council of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has sacked a director of ICT, Isah Yusuf Tsafe, after finding him culpable of gross misconduct, negligence and failure to account for the university’s assets under his custody.

This was announced in a statement by the head of Information and Public Relations of the university, Jamilu Magaji, in Birnin Kebbi.

The statement further indicated that in a separate disciplinary action, the council also demoted one Mr Abdullahi Mohammed Adamu of the ICT department by one grade level and barred him from promotion for the next five years.

According to the statement, council found Adamu engaged in financial transactions with parents of admission seekers and involved himself also in admission related matters despite not being a member of the University.

In another development, the council has approved the promotion of five academic staff to the rank of Associate Professor (Reader).

The promoted staff were drawn from the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences and the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
