The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has praised the daughter of the late former governor of the state, Admiral Mohammed Lawal, Hon. Arinola Lawal for awarding scholarships to 500 indigent students in her Ilorin East Constituency over the years.
Speaking with journalists at the event , Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by his senior adviser /counsellor, Alh Saadu Salahu , praised the lawmaker for prioritising education which according to him, “is the number one priority of this administration”.
The governor expressed delight that his administration’s huge investment in education is yielding positive results with the state contingents from public schools wining national and international laurels for the state.
While thanking the lawmaker for her interest in the education and future of the young ones, AbdulRazaq, urged other stakeholders to embrace his government’s educational policies to secure the future of the young generations.
AbdulRazaq assured that his administration would continue to invest heavily in the education sector, reiterating that education remains the number priority of his administration.
In her remarks, Hon. Arinola Lawal said the scholarship award was in demonstration of the art of benevolence she had learnt from her late father and her resolve not to deviate from the noble cause, but rather build on it by increasing the number of this year’s beneficiaries to 150.
She said the scholarship award was implemented under the foundation she floated in memory of her father – Mohammed Alabi Lawal Foundation.
“I am proud to say that this foundation has awarded scholarships to 350 students in previous editions, and with today’s award, that number will rise to 500. I am committed to continuing this initiative, and I hope that it will inspire others , to join us in supporting the education of our young people. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our students and in the future of our state”, she said
Commending Governor AbdulRazaq for his administration’s robust education reforms, the lawmaker said “this initiative is in line with His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision for education and serves as a testament to his relentless efforts in promoting education in Kwara State, for which I commend him.”
