Fenerbahçe are set to submit an official complaint to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) regarding Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, just days before Sunday’s highly anticipated derby. The complaint focuses on a custom-made protective bandage worn by Osimhen on his right forearm.
Osimhen started using the rigid medical device after sustaining a forearm fracture during a Champions League match against Liverpool on 18th March. The bandage is designed to immobilise his wrist, alleviate pain, and prevent further injury, thereby allowing him to continue playing. He wore it during his return from injury in Wednesday’s Turkish Cup tie against Gençlerbirliği.
Fenerbahçe contend that the protective gear is excessively hard and poses a potential safety risk to opposing players. The club’s medical staff has compiled a comprehensive report, assessing the materials permitted under International Football Association Board (IFAB) regulations, which will accompany Fenerbahçe’s formal submission to the TFF.
With only four matches remaining in the 2025-2026 Süper Lig season, this derby could prove pivotal in the title race. Reigning champions Galatasaray currently boast a four-point lead over second-placed Fenerbahçe and are seven points clear of Trabzonspor.
